About the Role

Vertex Elite is looking for a highly experienced Hadoop Data Engineer to join the team on a W2 contract basis. The position is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and requires onsite work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Hadoop Data Engineering, along with expertise in Java programming and SQL coding. US Citizens or Green Card holders are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Hadoop-based data engineering solutions
Implement and optimize data pipelines using Hadoop ecosystem tools
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data processing meets business requirements
Write efficient, scalable, and maintainable code in Java/J2EE
Develop and execute complex SQL queries to process and analyze large datasets
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues within data pipelines
Ensure data quality and integrity across all Hadoop clusters

Required Skills & Expertise

10+ years of total IT experience
Strong expertise in Hadoop Data Engineering, including working with Hadoop ecosystem tools (e.g., Hive, HBase, Pig, Spark)
Proficiency in programming languages, specifically Java/J2EE
Advanced SQL skills, including writing and optimizing complex queries
Solid understanding of distributed computing concepts and big data architectures
Experience with data ingestion, ETL processes, and data pipeline development
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
